How Rain Became Rainbow

How Rain Became Rainbow

The eyelids of Rain had grown heavy, her tears forming clear lakes in her eyes. Grey and dark-blue clouds were her resting place. Everything was wrapped in fog. A sorrowful and lonely starship floated through a sea of clouds. The first tear fell and struck the earth heavily. Then came dozens more, hurrying down to soak the soil. Celestial, embroidered rivers poured downward, and it seemed as though the whole earth was drowning in Rain’s sorrow.

Suddenly, from somewhere, laughter was heard—the splashing of shoes in puddles. More laughter, more splashing, high-pitched children’s voices and fluffy giggles. Rain jumped in surprise and looked down. The children on Earth were playing in the rain. Yes, they loved it when it rained, simply because they were simply children—and they were not afraid of the sorrowful raindrops. They weren’t afraid to get their feathers wet, because they would later shake them off and free themselves from that damp feeling.

A smile dawned on the lips of Rain. She simply couldn’t hold it back. She no longer remembered why she had started crying. “So that’s how it’s meant to be,” she thought to herself and looked down again. The children were splashing in puddles, catching raindrops in their little hands and throwing them at one another. They pulled down the branches of trees and bathed in the freshness of the rain.

The rain had stopped. In the distance, Father Sun could be seen. After all, it couldn’t rain all day. Father Sun gently caressed Rain’s face and dried the salty droplets from her rosy cheeks. He pinched her button nose and gave her a little wink.

In that moment, the clouds began to part, slowly dispersing and blending into the clear blue sky. Rain looked down at the earth and saw her reflection in the puddles. Her appearance had changed. Now, she was colorful and joyful, filled with faith, hope, and love. She was barely recognizable—and yet, still herself. The reflection in the puddles showed seven colors, beautifully and artfully arranged and painted, as if by some great master artist. And that’s how Rain became Rainbow.

✨ Reflection ✨
